Last week some of our friends came out from Santa Barbara for the week. Thomas and BJ used to play tennis together every week and I worked with him for a couple years. BJ brought his girlfriend Gabby out with him to visit and spend some time in Boston and New York at the US Open. I don't know if we have laughed so much or so hard in a long time!
We decided to take them sailing with us and spoiler alert, we had a great time! I would say it was the best sailing we've had all summer. The weather was great, the winds were strong and since we've been a few times we already knew how to help out rather than get in the way.
And now for a series of shots of the journey. We sailed from Swampscott Harbor around a little island called Egg Rock. It was quite the adventure! The winds were strong and we were cruising around that thing!
At a few points the boat was tipped so far to one side or the other that the hull dipped into the waves. The captain yelled for all of us to sit on the other side of the boat to help balance it out. You can see the horizon in the pictures below in relation to the boat. I'm telling you, it was intense!
The sunset is always amazing from the water, it's one of my favorite things. For a brief second we were sailing on Tatooine- two suns!
As we sailed off into the sunset I was a little sad that this might be our last sailing trip this summer. I am so grateful for our friends visiting and those that let us come along on their boat. Maybe someday we will have our own little sail boat to scoot around the harbor.
