Boston With Friends

We had quite a full house this weekend. BJ and Gabby were visiting from California and our roommates arrived back from their summer in Idaho. Six people in our little apartment had the potential to be a bit crazy but we had such a blast. We all know each other from when we lived in Santa Barbara so we spent a good amount of time catching up on mutual friends and laughing. My goodness, we were constantly in stitches.

Breakfast Saturday morning before our Boston adventure and movie night Sunday.

We spent Saturday downtown showing BJ and Gabby the best of Boston. First stop was the Boston Tea Party museum. There were a couple of tall ships in the water and a tea room. Unfortunately to tour the boats was unreasonably expensive so we decided to just look at them from the harbor. I think we got the same idea.

We continued our walk through town to Fenway Park.

And on to Newbury Street

Down to Copley Square

One of my favorite things about Boston is the unique mix of buildings. Something old next to something new.

We continued our walk through the public garden up to the Beacon Hill neighborhood where we had dinner at 75 Chestnut- great service and some of the best food I've had here. If you're ever in Boston I highly recommend a stroll through this neighborhood, it's so much quieter than the rest of downtown. Just on the other side of Beacon Hill there's a pathway down to the Charles river.

The golden hour on the river is something magic. From the banks of the river we could see the Citgo sign all the way down by Fenway park. Even though our feet were tired it felt triumphant to see that we'd walked through the whole city.

We hopped on the train back to our car and swung by the North End to pick up Heather and Ryan and then went to see the Bunker Hill Monument. I love this place at night, it's so calm and glowy. The view of the city and the Zakim Bridge all lit up make me love this city all the more. The six of us sat under the glowing spire, laughing and talking in the cool, humid air. It was one of those moments when I felt so grateful for my friends.

And after a long day walking through Boston in flip-flops this is what your feet look like. You're welcome.
