A Day on The Cape

After four years of living on the East Coast we finally made it down to Cape Cod. We usually go to Martha's Vineyard annually and the Cape is always on our list but last year we had a little baby and it just didn't happen. We decided on a Friday night that we would head down there the next morning and see what it was all about.

The only dissappointing thing was that we didn't have more time there!

As I thought, Christopher loved the water! He ran straight for the ocean and had to be dragged back to the car when it was time to leave. Summer has been so long awaited this year and I think we all really relished the time in the sand and sun.

Christopher made a few friends (he always finds friends!) and pushed his truck around in the sand for a good long while.

When we finally left the beach we realized we were starving! Luckily there are a million places to eat out there and they all seem to have amazing seafood. We picked a placey in Yarmouth and weren't dissappointed! The portions were hearty and the lobster was very frest and tasty!

Christopher barely made it through dinner without freaking out- he only had a 20 minute nap in the car all day- but I was honestly surprised he'd made it that far without losing it. We took a little walk along another beach before heading home and again, we had to tear this boy away from the ocean when it was time to go.

He was yelling "Moon!" in this picture- he saw a kite surfer whose sail was cresent shaped and looked like the moon.

I love this little adventurer of mine!

Strawberry Picking 2017

Last year was the first time I'd ever gone strawberry picking here in New England and we loved it! There is nothing like fresh, ripe strawberries in the summer! I don't know how anyone eats the ones from the grocery store after tasting these beauties!

Like last year we went up to Parlee Farms for our berries. They have really great staff and they also seem to have larger fields with more fruit than some of the other farms I have seen and heard of.

I was a little surprised at how quickly Topher picked up the concept of choosing the bright red berries and putting them in the basket. He did eat a lot but I would say more than half of what he picked went into the basket and not in his tummy. I love getting to see the world through his eyes and watch him explore and experience things for the first time. I don't think he remembers our trip to the farm last summer but maybe next year he will recognize it when we go back.

We ended up having biscuits and strawberries for dinner because dad was working late and we just couldn't resist! With what we had left over after a few days of eating them plain I made a little batch of freezer jam so we can enjoy the bounty of summer all year long!
